Anaphylaxis is a potentially life‑threatening reaction that can happen when you’re allergic to bees, shellfish, peanuts or any other of a number of allergens.

Our goal was to address adherence challenges with younger boys not carrying their EpiPens to school with them. Beginning with helping them understand the seriousness of their allergies, and recognize the triggers — we needed a way to engage, educate, and encourage participation.

A hero is born.

Enter Red Flag, a living symbol of prevention. A cautionary backstory and the loss of his childhood best friend drives this hero to raise awareness and take action. After gaining insights from tweens (gadgets gadgets gadgets) we teamed with DC comic book artists to create a character that had relevance, and a bit of an edge.

Interactive comic books, animated shorts, downloadable coloring posters, and epi holsters all played important roles in the awareness and adherence strategy.

Villains among us.

Personifying the villains in a way that captured the very real threat these children face daily, but keeping them true to form proved to be no easy task. It was important we didn't lose the ability to connect. Plus, "The Claw" might make a serious bad dude, but Peanut-Man?

Sometimes teasing

is okay.
